These adorable baskets knit up quickly and can be used for Easter or any special occasion.
Knit one up for a wedding or your next baby shower.
Sizes:
Will vary with the amount of felting.
Baskets shown measure 8" (20cm) across at base and
3½" (9cm) deep, or 11" (28cm) to top of handle.
Yarn Requirements:
Use a DK weight yarn that felts easily. We used Perendale by Naturally Yarns.
Yarn is used double strand throughout.
Approximate yardage needed:
Easter Basket: 260 yards (238m) of MC and 20 yards (18m) of novelty yarn.
Shown in Perendale #91 (3 skeins) with Temptation #616 (1 skein).
Baby Shower Basket: 210 yards (192m) of MC and 60 yards (55m) of CC.
Shown in Perendale #74 (2 skeins) and #96 (1 skein).
Flower Girl Basket: 290 yards (265m).
Shown in Perendale #64 (3 skeins)
Needles:
US size 11 (8mm) in a 16" (40cm) circular and a set of double points. 1 spare, smaller 16" (40cm) circular.
Other Supplies:
2 yards of lawn trimmer line, cut into 24" (60cm)lengths. (We used .065 gauge line.)
Optional Supplies:
For Easter Eggs: Approximately 20 yards (19m) of wool and a styrofoam egg for each; felting needle and small amount of fiber for decorations.
For Flower Girl Basket: About 3 yards (meters) of narrow ribbon.
